Konstanz welcomed its twin towns to celebrate the twinning between Konstanz and Fontainebleau 50 years ago. That gave us the opportunity to invite our friends from the Royal Richmond Archery Club having fun and of course a tournament with us.

The fun started at Friday when we asked our six guests to join our weekly “Stammtisch”. After a long journey (some of them stood up at 5 o´clock in the morning) Hermann and Susanne picked them up at the Zürich Airport. Trying to fly as fast as possible back to Konstanz in car they got the opportunity to see the SV Litzelstetten archers at work, preparing the ground for the tournament on Sunday. At the Stammtisch they met their hosts for the next two days and enjoyed their beloved Hefeweizen. After leaving the Litzelstetter grounds they spend the rest of the evening with a good bottle of wine or upright in bed.

Saturday started with a big big breakfast at “Hermanns” with all an English man needs to start the day or more. After that we took the ferry “Lodi” to Meersburg, resting above the little town enjoying the sensational weather and one or two other Hefeweizen or Radler. A small shopping tour completed the stay before we went back to the Ferry.

Back in Konstanz there was not really enough time to rest before we met all together at the town hall in Konstanz to enjoy the party with all the other guests from the twin towns. Luckily we found a table suiting us all to taste the steaks and beer generously spend by Konstanz and ended the day by enjoying the Palio (horse race with iron horses) from Lodi. Sunday started hot and the tournament (144 arrows in 6 hours) was so long, that we couldn´t say good bye to our guests hasting to the Airport to get their flight to London in time.

Dear friends from Richmond, your stay here was too short and we hope to see you next time a bit longer and without haste.

We enjoyed your stay with us very much and are looking forward seeing you perhaps in Richmond next year.
